IPL Hair Removal
‘Comfortable, effective hair removal treatments’
IPL hair removal is one of the most advanced technologies currently available, and is suited to a range of skin and hair types.
IPL stands for ‘intense pulsed light’, using broad spectrum light delivered in controlled bursts of energy that targets the hair follicle cells. The mechanism of IPL hair removal and laser hair removal is virtually the same. The light energy is absorbed by the dark pigments of the hair, converting into heat that kills the hair follicle cells.
Hair growth can occur at different speeds, usually due to hormone levels. This means that you need multiple laser or IPL hair removal treatments before all of the follicle cells have been treated.
At Laser + Holistic Aesthetics our IPL system has an inbuilt cooling system to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.
What does an IPL treatment feel like?
Professional IPL treatments use high energy that creates heat. The sensitivity to the treatment depends on your skin and which part of the body is being treated. Generally speaking it feels warm with a zapping sensation.
At Laser + Holistic Aesthetics our cooling systems minimise the treatment sensation, making it feel comfortable for nearly everyone.
How many IPL treatments would I need?
This depends on your skin, hair and which areas you are having treated.
Normally a full course of treatment takes between 6-12 sessions spaced roughly one month apart.
Is an IPL treatment a permanent solution for hair removal?
IPL does not offer a completely permanent solution for complete hair removal – there is no such thing available with current technology.
IPL treatments do permanently reduce hair growth, making it far less dense and usually much finer in feel and appearance. Once completing a full course of IPL treatment, it is a good idea to have a top up appointment every 6-12 months for best results.
